Asking for Prayers

John's cousin Tracy passed this along, and I'd like to share it:

The following letter along with the Asbury Park Press article will be distributed to over 500 families Fri Feb 23rd. In honor of John, Drew and I requested that the American Flag at our school, Immaculate Conception, be lowered to half-staff on the day of John's burial. Also on that day, the entire school along with Monsignor Andy, will pause and pray together for John and his family.

----

Last weekend we lost yet another hero, only this one hits close to home. Army Chief Warrant Officer John A. Quinlan, our cousin and our friend, died Sunday when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter he piloted crashed in Afghanistan. We would like to ask that you remember John and his family in your prayers during this very difficult time. John is survived by his wife Julie and their three daughters - Kelly 10, Maddy 8, and Erin 3.

In honor of John and all the heroes that have died fighting for our freedom, the American Flag at our school will be lowered to half-staff next week on the day of his burial service. He will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

If you are interested in contributing to a college fund set up for John's three daughters, please go to http://johnquinlan.blogspot.com/ for more information.

Honor all the brave men and women who risk their lives every day to keep America safe and give our children a bright future.

Dear Friends,
It is with so much sorrow that we had learned of dear John's passing. Bob and I are long-time friends of John and Linda Mocko, John's family on the Quinlan side, and their loss of John is a loss to the world to us. We were fortunately invited to a party on 12/31 to honor John and to see him and his lovely family again before John was deployed. It was a precious time and one that we will never forget. John was so kind and friendly to us, and we know he really enjoyed himself that day. We keep that day in our hearts and will forever. To Kate, Bob, Susan and Greg and to the children we want you to know that we grieve and stand beside you in fond rememberance of an AMERICAN HERO. To Julie, Keely, Maddie and Erin, whom we had the pleasure of meeting after a long time, we cannot fully express our sorrow to you, but please know that our constant prayers are with you for strength and hope that you had a wonderful man in your lives, even if it was for a short time. We have done daily Rosaries for the families, and everyone that I contacted has expressed their profound sorrow and sends their prayers as well. GOD BLESS YOU, JOHN A. QUINLAN, AND MAY THE LORD WRAP HIS ARMS AROUND YOU FOR ALL ETERNITY.
With all our love and prayers,
Bob and Lillian Padavano

I am Brian "Brandy" Edwards, a childhood friend of the Quinlan's. I work at the Baltimore County Police Department. One of my co-workers advised that his daughter is a current student at Dulaney High School, where John went. They made an announcement of John's passing and held a moment of silence in his memory and honor, last Tuesday.
