John, we need to verify but I'M pretty sure that he received a Combat Action Ribbon in Desert Storm during the time he was on the boat.
My wife and I are devastated to hear about John. He was a patriot, a good husband and a wonderful father. We knew him through our son Mitch Johnson. Mitch met him during flight training at Fort Rucker. John was a wonderful friend to my son and a good influence during troubled times for Mitch. John made several visits to our home in Montgomery Alabama and it was always a joy to see him. He was such a wonderful man - We will miss him very much.
